massive update + flood of photos!

I’m in my brother’s room lying on his bed using my laptop because 1) we’re bored and 2) he had instant noodles just now – the smell made me walk in. HAHA.
He just messaged me on MSN and said Hi, so I had no choice but to reply “burp” whilst burping in real life too.

SO ANYWAY, I know I said I’d post a proper post about a week ago but never got round to it because well, lazing around got the better of me.

For the benefit of those I haven’t had the chance to personally update yet, and for people like Tania who stalks me and apparently feels connected to her friends here through their blogs, HELLO! Haha.

Since a week ago, I’ve been officially unemployed! Hehe. Yea, I know I sound exceptionally cheerful about being jobless – that’s because I am! I was at SPOON Creative as an Accounts Executive. No, not dealing with financials but with clients. Essentially account servicing. It was 7 months there, and I swear, after this stint, I really am never going to take a up a job purely because of the money again.

It’s not the company was bad or I couldn’t get along with the people there. Quite the contrary actually. Everything was good – the bosses, colleagues, hours.. I just hated my job scope. I initially took up the job because I wanted exposure into the design industry before I go ahead with my studies, and I couldn’t apply for the post of a designer because of a host of reasons, much as I would love to.

Liwei told me of the opening for an AE, and I went ahead to apply because given my background, it’s something that I can handle. It was after a couple of months when I realised I couldn’t carry on with the job because I was getting increasingly bored and frustrated with the job scope. I never blogged about it because I think it’s flipping unprofessional to bitch about it openly on your blog.

The people at SPOON were what made the 7 months bearable, and ultimately a whole lot of fun especially in the last 3 months or so. We’d constantly drive out for lunches because we’re all just so sick of the food at Tiong Bahru Market, which is right next to us. The constant yelling and shrieking in the office was insanely fun because everyone’s crazy.

When it was time for me to leave, I didn’t think that I’d miss them and feel as sad as I do about not seeing them everyday. Beyond the crazy fun we have in the office, they’re also a bunch of madly sweet people who’d drive out and travel with me when I had to get admission stuff done for school (which I’ll talk about in abit). If you didn’t already know, I really was very very touched when all of you took the time off even when you had work to do to have lunch farther away just so I had a convenient way of going to get my stuff done.

Over the months, I think I started to care and love them more than I thought I would. A couple of my Saturdays have also been spent with Charmaine, Roy and Liwei as well as Charm’s 2 cousins cos we’d all babysit them together. I loved those Saturdays and I really would like more to come.

I miss the Spoonsters, as they’re affectionately called.. I miss the morning JOLENEAREYOUHUNGRY!!!!s, and the constant LIWEISHUTUPLAa.

And although I really did feel like killing Liwei many times during the 7 months, he can be undeniably sweet:

tube:
for about 5 – 6 years i’ve only been a virtual friend to you
and vice versa.
and suddenly you are part of my working life
and suddenly you are gonna go off again
i just feel like someone stole ice cream from me

On my last day at work, Charm and Roy cancelled their date night dinner to have dinner with me – thank you!! I really do appreciate it; it made me happy hehe. Charm, Roy, Liwei, Andee and myself headed to the Fish Bistro at Hillcrest where I finally had my cod fish!!! I’d been craving for it for AGES. Sighhh, unfortunately it was much too fishy for me so my cod fish craving is still unsatisfied. The food there is really good though!!

We headed to Klee after that, this tucked away bar at Portsdown. It’s a really lovely place where they don’t have a menu and the bartenders will mix up something for you. The strawberry sake cocktail is AWESOME. Plus, they’re really nice. Photos another time!

Before we left office on my last day, we took tons of photos with Photobooth!! I love how they’re all crazy and fun-loving. My favourite kind of people to work with!

And here are the mad Spoonsters…

Hahahahaha!! Damn, posting the photos up was very fun! I was laughing like a crazy seal in front of my Macbook whilst trying to format this entry. Hahaha, I MISS THE SPOONSTERSSSSS. I’m sure we’ll meet soon! Hehe.

So what happens now that I am jobless? Heh heh heh.. Lots of slacking and lazing around, of course! My sleeping pattern’s whacked but no matter, they’ll be back to somewhat normal next week, YOU KNOW WHYYY? *annoying face*

Because………..

PINKIE IS COMING HOME
THIS FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

(4 more days)

*beams* Oh happy days are here! Hee hee. I can’t wait! YAYNESS!

Aside from pink bears returning home, come August, I’ll be a student again. YAYNESS! I really do miss studying and being in school, and if you’re one of those who knows my long and tiring journey with regards to Uni, then I suppose you may understand why I’m so happy to finally get it all settled.

It’s defintely been a tiring time leading up to this, but I suppose, I really did learn a lot along the way. Hopes of going overseas to pursue my degree are somewhat dashed, but I guess it’s all in God’s plans and He wants me to stay in Singapore afterall. I still very much want to go abroad, so we’ll see how that works out in the future. Who knows? Hehe.

Come August, I’ll be going to LASALLE to do a degree in Design Communication. I’ll either major in Graphic Design or Image Communication. Probably Imaging, because it involves photography AND design – God is good! This major was introduced this year for the first time, and the timing’s just perfect for me.

In preparation for the portfolio to apply for LASALLE, I took up art classes starting from the end of last year at Canvass. Michelle (my art teacher and Canvass’ director) is awesome and I love her hehe. She’s lots of fun and abit crazed; just the way I like it! Hahaha. I’m stopping my classes already because I don’t have an income to support it. Instead, I’ll be working for her. HEHE!!

I took up the classes because basic drawing skills are somewhat needed for entry into LASALLE and I have absolutely zilch. I can’t draw, seriously. Not even trying to be modest here. Haha.

I also went for LASALLE’s Portfolio Workshop at the beginning of this year. It was held over a few days where they taught us basic drawing technics and helped us to build a scrapbook which we could use for the interview.

The interview for LASALLE went really well, and praise God for that! Because I have a horrid fear of interviews. I get all nervous and then I blank out, not knowing what to say, with nothing going through my head. Horrible. The interview was a month or so ago, I think. I was reading up online about the interviews in forums and blogs that I found when I did a search. Based on the comments posted and from what I heard from the people I got to know during the Workshop, it’s rather easy to get into LASALLE – what’s difficult is getting them to give you entry into Year 1 or 2, and letting you skip the Foundation Year.

Before I went for the interview, I was undecided as to whether or not I wanted to skip the foundation year. Part of me wanted to attend the Foundation Year because well, it’d build my foundation and teach me the skills that I lack because I don’t have a formal design education background. The other part of me didn’t want to because it’s another year added to my Uni education, making the total number of years I’d spend in school FOUR. Also, it meant another year of expenses which is a crazy shitass amount because I am not eligible for MOE’s Diploma grant for LASALLE – I already have a Diploma from TP.

Before I go on – LASALLE’s Degree course takes 4 years, including the Foundation Year. Year 3 (which is the fourth year) is the Degree year, i/e if you stop studying after Year 2, you’ll graduate with a diploma.

When the interviewer kindly offered me direct entry into Year 1, I was thrilled! I’d found out during the interview that what will be taught in Year 1 will be fine with me, even without taking the Foundation Year. Praise God! I thank God also for His presence with me, for when I walked into the interview room an immediate sense of calm fell upon me.

I’m incredibly excited to be going back to school! With that excitement also comes anxiety – I worry that I won’t get used to having to do assignments and projects when I get home. For the past 3 years, when I get home all I do is unwind and go online for fun! Sheesh. Hahaha..

Oh, and I also worry about making new friends. AHAHAHA. Oh shuddup, don’t laugh at me! It’s trueeee.

Despite the nerves, my screwed sleeping pattern and having no income, I’m way excited for what is to come, as well as being very happy that Pinkie is coming home in 4 days! His exams end tomorrow, after stretching over a period of one month. Mad.

I cannot cannot cannot cannot wait to squish you. HEE HEE!

And now that I’ve FINALLY blogged this super long crazy post of updates on my life, I will reward myself with Timtams + cold milk! LIFE IS GOOOOOD! =))

sunshiney days

A couple of weeks ago, I met up with Tammy to have lunch and to discuss organising her husband Michael’s birthday charity concert/gig.

I miss Tam! She was one of my favourite people to work with at THPC, because she’s capable and gets things done, all the while being the sweetest possible person. Hee.

She held her wedding dinner last year and the photos I’ve been meaning to blog have been sitting on my desktop for erm, the longest time. HAHAHA. Oops.

She bought me lunch at Prego’s, which is a lovely place to dine in save for my mediocre pasta. No one seems to know how to make good pesto sauce.. So far I only like it at 2 places – Globetrotters (which has closed) and Canele. You’d think specialised pasta restaurants would make good pesto sauce. Any to recommend??

Anyways! Before I met Tam, she said she was headed down to Bugis to buy something. When I met her, she greeted me with a huge beam and held out what can only be described as the sweetest flower…

SHE GOT ME A DAFFODIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I nearly went blind taking this photo because it was blindingly scorching!)

*hyperventilates*

Ok, let me rewind and explain my excitement!

Daffodils are my favourite flowers. I’m not exactly sure why – I just like them tons. But what’s weird is that before this, I have NEVER seen a daffodil in real life! That’s because our climate isn’t suitable for them. They’re cold climate flowers, so I’ve never ever seen them in florists here.

I was damn touched when I learnt that she got me a daffodil, not because of the flower in itself but because when she discovered that her florist managed to bring it in, she remembered that I love them and wanted to surprise me with it! *melts*

Tam is insanely sweet! Hehehe. We had lunch and then trooped around to check out possible venues to hold Mike’s birthday gig. The idea of it is really cool and exciting – I’m quite excited! :) They’re a couple I admire and look up to because they defy convention and are just naturally different from other couples around. They’re special as individuals and even more so as a couple. Their love and zest for celebrating each other and life inspires me to look at life through happy glasses, and see that there really is much to celebrate and give thanks for. :)

Tam & I :)
Thank you for being a super sweet co-worker, friend and person! Thank you for surprising me, for always buying me food and for being super enthusiastic about writing me a reference letter! <3

Meeting Tam was a lovely and timely reminder that God picks the sweetest people in the world to be my friends, and also that I am loved.

NO, I DON’T WANNA BE YOUR FRIEND!!!!!!

Cat ass, yo.

It’s strange how life always seems to fall into place after periods when things go awry. Although so many things in the future are uncertain right now, I feel quite peaceful. :)

His peace that transcends understanding, huh?

The Bangkok trip that’s taking place this Sunday was completely unexpected, and I’m of course very very grateful for it. To run away to another country even for a few days makes me happy, heh.

On a sidenote, CAN YOU IDIOTS STOP ADDING ME ON FACEBOOK IF YOU DON’T KNOW ME? Gawd. It is annoying as hell! The very least you can do is drop me a message to say Hi. Not that it’d make me add you back, because I hardly add people I don’t know.

In the rare instances it happens, it’s usually because of one or more of the following reasons:
1) I was in a good mood
2) You messaged and managed to hold a proper conversation that DOES NOT include the words “can”, “we”, “be” or “friends”
3) You seem interesting to get to know

If I bother to reply your stupid friend request asking if I know you, it is either because a) YOU ANNOY ME TERRIBLY AND I WANT TO SNAP AT YOU, b) I really am not sure if I know you or c) your profile seems SOMEWHAT interesting.

Some of the replies I get when I drop a message to ask if I know them ASTOUND ME. How is going, “nope” or “err, no” or “oh no i dun noe you” HELPING ANY ONE ON THIS EARTH?????

It annoys me and makes you look like an idiot.

GO AWAY!!!! Grrrrr.

*pause*

Erm. I’m not very sure how this post turned out to be this ranty. Haha! Probably has everything to do with the “OH NO I DUN NOE YOU” that appeared in my inbox as I was typing. Oops.

Why, oh why are so little people capable of making good conversation?
By good conversation I don’t necessarily mean deep and thought-provoking all the time. Good conversation is simply engaging to both parties involved in it. Sheesh.

I wish I could run away to where you are, just for hugs and your presence. :(

Meow Meow (the stray who wanders around the office’s neighbourhood) is awesome –
she follows us when we call her and then proceeds to be manja, rubbing her face and body against out legs.
So cuuuute!

Look what I found in the dusty corners of my Macbook…

I was browsing through Autumn (my affectionately named Macbook if you don’t already know) and sorting out my files and photos into proper folders (like finally)!

There were old pictures that I haven’t looked at in ages.. and then the somewhat newer ones that I also haven’t given much thought to in awhile.

And then I came across something that made me smile and cheered my gloomy day up! =)

Heeeee! So cute – 2 of my favourites: Pinkie and original flavoured Yakult! Hehe.

(Please don’t kill me for posting this!!! It really did make me smile on such a super gloomy day so I just wanted to share it and make you smile too! Ahaha!)

Really makes me feel like squishing the pink bear! Yay!

And y’know who else is incredibly insanely immensely cuuute??

.

A CUTE BEAR IN SPECS!!!!!!!!!

*melts* I have a HUUUUGE soft spot for guys in specs! And then Pinkie went to put his specs on Skip! Of course I proceeded to squirm and melt 27 times over! Hee.

I can’t believe that I miss plush toys this much. That’s not righhhhttttt.

(please ignore the lil green girl in the corner)

you could be my unintended;

Public transportation in Singapore have become a pet peeve. They make me soooo incredibly angsty. Quite amazing, actually.

Okay, to be fair… I adore long bus rides in our buses, and they’re fairly clean most of the time.

What I detest is how Singaporeans have no concept of personal space. And I’m not talking about 9am human traffic jams, by the way. If there is sufficient room around you, STAY THERE! Don’t come and breathe my air!

I also hate bus drivers who drive and slam the brakes every one metre. FUN AH?? Stop trying to fling your passengers all over the place! Grr.

*breathe*

The rants have to go somewhere, right?!
Although last night when I ranted to Pinkie, he couldn’t stop laughing. Pfftt!

jojo: *rambles on and on about my day for awhile*

kelv: hmm.. today I got up, and went to buy groceries.

jojo: mmhmm..

kelv: ya. that’s it. my day’s very boring.

HAHAHAHAHAHA MY BOYFRIEND IS RETARDED PLEASE! I thought he had some nice story to tell me about his exciting day or something! Pshhh.

kelv: ey, don’t you want to go to sleep? it’s 2am already!

jojo: WHAT??? I THOUGHT IT’S 1.30am!!! Oh nooooooo..

kelv: ah. see la! talk to boyfriend la, talk to boyfriend somemore. never keep track of time la!

jojo: what the hell who are you?? my mother???!!

Random excerpts from my life.
I doubt anyone who reads this space would actually know what’s going on in my life, especially these days.
This is mostly because most of my time is spent at work, and for now I’d rather remain silent about it because of various reasons. Sigh…

But anyway. My favourite times in my week are Thursdays when I have art class and Sundays when I have devotions sharing with Pinkie.

Art class is lots of fun – Michelle is crazy, and quite similiar to me heh.

Remember this polar bear that I was drawing?

I was super stressed with completing enough works, so I had to bring him home to complete at my own time. Scary, considering that this was the second time in my entire life I was using charcoal.

Here he is, halfway completed:

Got some help from Michelle with defining lines and shading the background and here he is.. completed!!

Awwww… I wanna squish him! Hee hee. So cute. Look so innocent and fuzzy… and yet… HE EATS SEALS. Tsk!!!

I totally gave up using watercolour paints for a piece I was in the middle of doing. Erm, correction. I decided to screw the piece and work with acrylic instead. Haha, it was driving me maddd.

And and and, I’m gonna start on a popart piece soon! SO EXCITING. Haha, really quite excited to start on that one heh! :)
I wanna paint youuuu! LOL. Ok I don’t think you want me to because I totally would paint you pink! Heh heh heh.

I’m in such a weird phase of my life, with constant attempts at embracing it and enjoying the days.

RUSSELL IS AWESOMEEEEE.
so is my lx3!

Marshmallow seal filled with secret feelings

Not so secret anymore, as I bounced around and burst into happy faces when I met up with Tania last night and shared with her how my life has been so far.

“You’ve been happy for quite awhile, y’know?”

It’s nice to hear that from someone actually. Heh.
Life’s been goooood.

Picture spam! *shriek*

Crazy Spoon peeps:

Neoprint love! Haha, but the quality of this one was pretty bad, yo.
Notice Li-wei’s pretty bow? Hahahahaha.

Hearing you read Kahlil Gibran’s piece on Love to me was especially sweet, heh.

you make me happy, yo! hahaha!

I finally transferred the flowers that Pinkie sent me for Valentine’s into a vase, and it looks super pretty now! :)

Oh by the way, I’ve 2 fishies in the office now. They’re therapeutic to watch man!

one and only, probably.

michelle’s chihuahua miki.
possibly the only chihuahua I like. he’s pretty sweet, heh :)

the fuzzy things in life

pip saw that Russell was tired and thought it’d be sweet to pat him to sleep. awwwwww.

Pseudo Batam Trip!

This is, to put it mildly, an extremely backdated post.

My Long John’s Silver fish sandwich breakfast! I love it!
And finished a whole meal to myself, much to Michelle’s horror.

Sometime last October, I was supposed to head off for a day trip to Batam for a spa treatment and a cheap seafood dinner! Michelle, Petrina, Lennel and myself were supposed to go there for a day off our lives and just relax.

My dad sent me to Harbourfront in the morning, where we were supposed to buy ferry tickets. I’ve never been there so I really wasn’t too sure of the procedures and stuff. On the way there, I was informed that they needed me and my passport to be around for them to purchase tickets. I was late oooops!

When I got there, I realised that I wasn’t the one in trouble. Uh ohhhh.

Our dear Petrina…… WAS THERE WITH AN EXPIRED PASSPORT! /facepalm.

Aunty Pet! The ex-air stewardess who didn’t think to check her passport hahahaha!

HAHAHA. So uhm, we tried to salvage the situation and see what could be done… and sent Pet and Lennel to IRA to see if we could somehow get an emergency one day pass for her to get out of the country.

I shall leave details of that out, but if you know Pet personally, you’d already know details were FRICKING hilarious HAHAHA.

Whilst hanging around Harbourfront waiting for Pet and Lennel to get back so we could figure out what else to do with our day, Michelle and I walked all over.

Horribly grumpy at the prospect of not being able to take our trip afterall, Michelle only managed to cheer up when we saw an automatic mahjong table. Hahaha. Aunty, man!

Haha, so cool. But part of the mahjong fun is to mess and shuffle the tiles ourselves!

We decided that we still wanted the day to pamper ourselves… So after much debating, we headed off to get manicures (Michelle and myself) and massages (Pet and Lennel).

My nails and Michelle’s! It looks red, but it was really HOT PINK with the French tip.
Hee hee I loveeee.

After the nice happy manicure+pedicure, my world was bright and happy again! I secretly believe that manicures can end wars. They make me so happy!

Insistent on getting off the main island of Singapore, and not wanting to head to Sentosa, we went of to………. Pulau Ubin. HAHA. Where Pet treated us to a yummy seafood dinner to make up for the trip, LOL. Thanks Pet!!!

This uncle was so cool man. And extremely grouchy, much to our delight! Hahaha!

Big foot, yo.

Heehee I love the random times spent with Pet and Michelle (and yes of course Cheryl who wasn’t there). They each have their own quirks that amuse me to NO end – you’d really have to know them personally to understand this. Haha.

We randomly trooped about for like 10 minutes, hahaha. This was because the sun was setting alright. Plus, no way was I going to cycle there. I have a horrid scar on my hip from cycling there and falling down a stupid slope last time! Pfftt.

AND THEN IT WAS TIME FOR FOOD MUAHAHAHAHHA!! It was quite nice, actually! After hearing horrid reviews from my parents, I concluded that they went to another eating place on the island haha.

Headed off to wait aimlessly for a ferry to take us back to Singapore after that. OMG, I just remembered that we went off for dessert after that… Where they all expressed disgust at how I could still eat waffles after the filling dinner. HAHAHAHAHA.

Erm.
How come I suddenly have a craving for waffles and maple syrup?!?! Sheesh.

JOJO IS NOT 5!

Don’t quite know why it’s amusing that I’m taking art classes (in an attempt to prove to myself that I can draw, amongst other things)

First times:

  • Drawing with charcoal (Photos not here)
  • Painting with acrylic on canvas
  • Drawing, period. (I didn’t take Art for Os, yo.)

Very unfortunately, I’m incredibly sick of this piece haha.
My favourite part is actually the background, which was also a pain in the ass to complete.

That piece was done for fun, just because I felt like painting on canvas in bright happy colours. I’m supposed to focus on getting my non-existent drawing skills honed so it’s back to sketching for me.

Michelle brought in a book of dogs after learning that I prefer them over cats but I couldn’t find a photo that I wanted to draw. Ended up searching online and settling on Knut, the cute polar bear who lives in the Berlin Zoo.

    HE’S SO CUTE.
He’s addicted to humans and his adoring fans, and throws tantrums if he doesn’t receive enough attention. Haha! Apparently it’s quite bad for him, but it sounds too cute.

Only did the outline yesterday though, after learning how to. Haha, I hope I don’t screw him up in the coming weeks as more details are added, sighh.

Pinkie claims that if I learn how to draw polar bears, I should be able to sketch him when he comes home.

When I got home yesterday, Russell glared at me and ignored me because I was playing with a cat at work. What an incredibly cute dog. Heh.

  • you make it easier when life gets hard.

After endless debates with myself (and poor Pinkie) I finally went ahead to bring home my LX3!

Haven’t had the time since I brought it home to take photos because I’ve been insanely busy and caught up in many things, hmm.

I need a name for it! Him? Her?

I’m still quite, quite impressed by how much this tiny thing can do and I’ve yet to explore much still! Hehe.

Anyhow, here’s what the LX3 can do. Most photos here are un-edited, with very minor edits for some. I didn’t upload the full size images though. Lazy. Hahahaha.

One of the rare times that I actually make use of the Scene mode on any camera. I like this one though, it’s a pinhole effect heh.

    Arglee fingers. Paws.

Andee in the office, in hot pink. Heh.

That’s my Aunt’s dressing table, hokay! Not mine! Haha.

I got my hair dyed black last night. Adrian used a different kind of dye that is supposed to bring more shine to my hair, much to my delight. The dye itself was shimmery There wasn’t much of the usual disgusting dye smell.

Only downside? It’s more watery than the usual creamy kind, so it leaked down my face and I now have a gray forehead and one gray ear.
