Sunday, June 13th 2010 @ 2:57 amcategorised: Daffodil Fields!, Fuzzies, I'M HUNGRY!!!, photographie, snapshotsHeaded out for lunch with Lee Teng today, and I’m happy we got to meet up again before I leave! I love random meals with her cos we just end up chatting on and on and on. In fact, I think my throat started hurting by the time I got home. HAHAHA.
We went to hunt down the famous claypot laksa at Alexandra, and I was super excited cos I’d read quite a bit about it last night when I was trying to track down the address of the original stall (but to no avail)

super thick laksa gravy!Looks good, huh? We were so excited! HAHA. I loooove thick laksa gravy! In fact, when I am not having Katong laksa, I usually order my laksa with kway teow or meetaimak, just so it will soak up the gravy and make it seem thicker. Not a big fan of the usual thick beehoon used in laksa because it doesn’t absorb the soup!
The bowl we ordered was the medium one, priced at $4.50 and it’s a decent portion, but definitely not enough if you are starving.
It was served piping hot and looked promising, but I must say that I was a tad disappointed with it – it was too spicy! I know it’s laksa and it’s meant to be spicy, and I am the worst judge of how spicy it is because I don’t take chilli, but I felt it was a bit much because the level of spiciness took away the richness of the taste of the gravy.
I couldn’t taste much of the ingredients of the gravy because I was busy trying not to let my head explode, and I guess I prefer my food to be flavourful rather than just spicy fullstop.
It is worth a try though, and I believe a lot of people would enjoy it. I just hoped it was less spicy, and more pang. Heh.
The stall is located at Blk 119, Bukit Merah Lane 1, Alexandra Village.
After we were done with lunch, we headed to Ikea which was just nearby. I’d initially wanted to get ice cream and I fully regret seeing a sign showing off their cinnamon pancakes with honeyed apples for kids.

Ikea’s so-called cinnamon pancakes with honeyed applesMost. Disgusting. Meal. At. Ikea. Ever.
First of all, how is that a pancake!
After tasting a bit of the flour and apples, I gave up. That’s how my plate looked all through the time we were at Ikea. The pancakes (if you can call them that) were completely tasteless, and they didn’t have maple syrup. The honeyed apples were….. really really reaaaally bad. I can’t even begin to describe how they taste. Ugh.. I wish I’d just stuck to getting ice cream. Meh! Never again!
Aaaanyways, I loveeee my new camera!!!!! HEE HEE HEE. *hops about*
Despite the weight, that is.
Random peeks that do not make much sense but are pretty and make me smile anyways hahahahaha…

Photo walk this Thursday with some Tweeple! Any other tweeple want in?

Tuesday, March 16th 2010 @ 12:28 amcategorised: Daffodil Fields!, I'M HUNGRY!!!, The Happy People! One of the best annual worldwide traditions is back! And it’s in a week’s time!
Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day is here again!!! <3 <3 <3
I love them a whole lot, and not just because of yummy ice cream and wacky flavours that are so full of ingredients (i/e you don’t get chopped up peanuts scattered here and there – you get a whole lotta good stuff!)I love them also because of what their company meant to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield back then, and the values that have carried on til today. And yes, the owners are really called Ben and Jerry and they are still well and alive today, thankyouverymuch.
If you didn’t already know, I was with The Happy People Co (main franchisee for B&J in Singapore) for two years, doing Marketing for them. It was a super fun two years and I still miss those times
Practically everyone knows of FCD these days, but do you know why they have Free Cone Day around the world every single year?
Here’s a hint: it’s not just about marketing and “free” publicity.
// Free Cone Day, is Ben & Jerry’s fun-tastic way of saying thank you to the millions of ice cream lovers around the world. In the spirit of this moovellous kind day, I too would like to say my thanks to my super super lovely ex-colleagues for taking me out and spending time with me on my birthday this year when they learnt that I didn’t have plans. They made me very happy! Hehe.
Everybody, there can’t never be too much appreciation, so say your thanks and see you at Ben & Jerry’s on 23 March 2010!//
Important details:
23 March 2010 / 12pm – 7pm /
The Cathay / Orchard Central / United Square / Great World City / Vivo City / The Zoo* / Jurong Bird Park*
Chocolate Macadamia / Sweet Cream & Cookies (MY FAV!!!!!) / Strawberry Cheesecake / Mango Mango sorbet* the outlets at the zoo and bird park close at 5pm
I can’t wait!! Hee. Shall drag my classmates over to The Cathay’s outlet after our class next Tuesday!!! Although, speaking from experience, being behind the dipcase and scooping out the ice cream and seeing happy faces is a lot more fun than queuing for free ice cream. Haha!
And, they’re gonna unveil a new flavour brought into Singapore on FCD too! OMG. Excited! Hahahahahaha.
Anyways, share your appreciation for the people around you and spread the news about B&J love! Go here for more details.
I WANT MY SWEET CREAM AND COOKIESSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Thursday, October 1st 2009 @ 8:53 pmcategorised: I'M HUNGRY!!!, PinkPolarBear, giggly school girl!, veedeeohsMy absolute favourite foods generally belong to this strange meal called Breakfast, which I don’t usually get to enjoy because well, I adore sleeping in til lunch.
Places that serve breakfast all day delight me, although as of now I am unsure of any brekkie all day places that have good food. Brunch is awesome as well because you get both, and right now my favourite place is Riders Cafe. Their eggs benedict is love! So are their pancakes – I proclaimed that I was never going to eat hotcakes again after having tried their pancakes. Lol.
I also particularly loved the days when Pinkie and I made breakfast together. Scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, waffles and pink milk! The only thing that kills my job is having to wake up 2 hours before I want to eat and travel to his place to make breakfast. Bleh!
And so, what tops my list of breakfast love has got to be homemade breakfast, served in bed. Aww! It’s such a lovely notion, gesture and thought (dream?) because I haven’t had it. OMG WHAAAT?
ANYWAY. Here’s Gordon Ramsey teaching how to make perfect scrambled eggs…
PINKIE!!! *hint*

Saturday, September 12th 2009 @ 1:30 amcategorised: I'M HUNGRY!!!, LOL, Random burstsI came home with multiple bags of snacks today, somehow. I was feeling greedy lah!
And then I realised that my parents stocked up the junk food at home too!!! OMG. There were several bags of chips greeting me when I got home today. I opened up the freezer to get ice cubes and discovered that it was stuffed with ice cream.
ZOMG I don’t get ridiculously fat is bluff one lor!!!!

My brother popped out today! ERR, he POPed lah! We had a really yummy dinner just now, with my parents and Pinkie! Yesss, he’s feeling better today – YAYNESS! Stewed pork belly is LOVE!
It’s 12:02am. Before 11pm, I told myself I’d start on work at 11. *guilty face*
I’m sooo tired from school, and everything else. Desperately need more sleep, but some days, doing work and making time to meet Pinkie is just more important than that. O well.
My photography project is stressing me out big time.. grar! Gonna take photos on Friday with Pinkie. I reaaallly hope they turn out good. =(
AND THEN WE’RE HAVING LUNCH AT LAWRY’S!!!!!! Hehe. Have never eaten there before, and neither has he. We’re going because his friend Alex gave him a voucher for his birthday. Hello, cows.Y’know, I think value for money is tons more important than the quality of your food. Or reputation.
Morton’s was disappointing. I don’t think it’s because the food sucks, because my steak was quite nice really. Can’t say the same for Pinkie’s but let’s just talk about mine. I got a tenderloin, which was really quite good. The problem was that it was something like $70 or $80 bucks! Now, you see, if the steak had been mind-blowingly good, I wouldn’t think paying 70 bucks for a piece of meat is insane.. but it wasn’t! It was good, just not THAT good.If I had a $20 steak at Aston’s, I’d probably be happier because it’s much better value for money there. I wish Saraceno had a more consistent quality of food. I went there a couple of months back because of the rave reviews my ex colleagues had of the place, and also knowing that it was opened by 2 chefs who had trained under Gordon Ramsey for a couple of years.
The appetizers were really, really good. Their parma ham is completely amazing! We both ordered steaks for our mains because of good reviews from friends as well as online, but it was honestly just really disappointing. Mine was overdone, and they re-fired it, along with Pinkie’s because it just isn’t good manners leaving him eating while I stare into space. When mine came back, it was better but his was too overdone. We were too hungry by then to ask for yet another change. The food there is good, to be honest.. It’s just the inconsistency that annoys the hell out of me. The mash that came with the steak was DAMN good, though. Oh, and service there is really immaculate as well.
I think Da Paolo’s has awesome value for money! Good service with nice food and a comfortable ambience at the Holland Village branch. I WANT MORE RISOTTO! Also love their pasta like mad. The king prawn one is DAMN FRICKING GOOD. Heh.
I hope Lawry’s doesn’t disappoint…
Shit, I’m supposed to be doing work!

Sunday, July 26th 2009 @ 3:43 amcategorised: Daffodil Fields!, I'M HUNGRY!!!, PinkPolarBear, dear God, tweedledeeTo have an awesome night of encountering God with Pinkie and Hillsong end off with ice cream at 3.30 in the morning in my cold air-conditioned room while tucked in bed under the comforter, followed by a cup of super cold iced water… this is bliss.
The only thing that could possibly make this moment any better would be to have you here to enjoy it with me, me thinks.
These small, simple stuff are what makes life worth living.
What’s made you feel blissful or happy lately?

Thursday, July 23rd 2009 @ 4:53 amcategorised: Daffodil Fields!, I'M HUNGRY!!!, PinkPolarBearToday was my birthday!
Hahaha, okay.. Not quite. Pinkie celebrated my birthday today though, only because I insist on it cos he isn’t in the country on my actual birthday.
Proper update another day, I promise. Right now I just wanna rave about my new found love, and whine about its current shortage in my life.
We had lunch at Da Paolo’s at Holland V, where I had awesome pasta. He ordered the mushroom risotto, and I picked at it. I LOVE RISOTTO!!!!! *swoons*
The comforting, mushy-ness and hell lot of cheese… mmmm! *happy face*
I’ve spent the past few hours thinking of the risotto and I can’t seem to stop!! GAH. Am now on a hunt for more risotto here in Singapore!
Anyone knows where I can get good risotto here?? PLEASE SHARE! I PROMISE I WILL LOVE YOU AND BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL. nom nom nom.(I am so hungry now.. but I bet everything I get to eat will taste like crap because all my tummy wants is risotto!!!!!)

Tuesday, July 21st 2009 @ 2:04 amcategorised: I'M HUNGRY!!!, LOL, PinkPolarBear
Pinkie got back from Hong Kong last Friday, and to my utmost delight he came back with presents for me!! *squeal* Hee hee. He got me a Kate Spade wallet from the factory outlet there.. love!

He also got me a bar of Godiva milk chocolate with macadamia nuts!
It was so niceeeee! *MELTS* I opened it after I had my meal, thinking that there was no way I was going to finish it because I was already quite full, but it was so smooth and light that I kinda gobbled it up. The macadamia nuts were roasted.. so lovely! *happy face*
He got himself a packet of fun-sized Milky Way chocolates. He asked if I’d tried that before, and repeatedly told me that it’s his favourite chocolate over the course of a couple of hours. Haha.
He also told me that he got me the bar of Godiva because he was trying to spend a certain amount in the shop to get a discount off his purchases. (My sulky boyfriend very romantic ah??) HAHAHA!

Anyway, I bit into the wonderful bar of chocolate and looked like this:

So I let Pinkie take a bite, and then…… he wanted to exchange his Milky Way for my bar of Godiva.
Hahahaha. I want moreeee!! I finished up the bar too quickly.. Meh. I’ve been feeling randomly excited for the past few hours, for reasons beyond me. And then I suddenly remembered where I’m headed to for dinner tomorrow with Pinkie and his parents… and now I really am *madly* excited. HAHA.
O, and I’ve declared this entire week my birthday! Mostly for Pinkie who wasn’t around when my birthday actually did roll around in February.
(I need to come up with a de-lurking post soon…)

Monday, July 13th 2009 @ 10:25 pmcategorised: Contemplation, I'M HUNGRY!!!, Random burstsThese days, whenever I open this page, I’m at a loss for words as to what to type. Not so much a case of not having anything to say or think about, but rather, the contrary.
It’s odd. I don’t like feeling so restricted.. although a sneaking suspicion tells me that this restriction is placed upon myself by me. Sheesh.
Perhaps I’ll just head off to cook some dinner and drink chocolate milk. *flops*
I think I’ll make macaroni with pasta sauce and lots and lots and lots of cheese.
