So I finally have a dSLR to call my own, YAYNESS! It’s a Nikon D5000. I also got the Sigma 30mm/f1.4 lens because f1.4 is impossible to resist, really. And because I never liked kit lenses.

I can’t quite believe that after all these years, I finally have my own! Hehe. Praise God for His provision indeed. :)

She has yet to be named, though, despite the barrage of ridiculous names Pinkie and Zhan have attempted to heap on her. Hmpf.

Brought her out to test out shots taken indoors at night just now.. Quite happy with what the lens can do! Although, I am rather unused to the new Nikon dSLRs.. The last one I’d used for awhile was Zhan’s D70s which he lent me for a few months.. They’re quite different now! So am not used to it yet.

Also, this lens has abit of a learning curve because of the huge aperture, making it tricky to focus at the exact point I want it to.. especially when photographing people. Ack.

Anyhow, here are some of the ‘test’ shots taken today. Mostly unedited. Not as well-taken as I’d like my photos to be, obviously, but just to give a taste of what this lens can do in the hands of someone (who hasn’t handled a dSLR in over a year!) for the first time…

    my shelf of elliefants! muahaha!

my new hot pink shoes!!! :D dawnie took this shot

jiao bin!!! Ahaha! this was taken in Ken Noodle House at Cuppage.
if you’ve been there, you’d know how dark the place actually is!

my ramen! i’ve missed the ramen at this place. i think it’s much nicer than the famous place in Central…
took this shot in a mad hurry because i was starving. hahaha =X

LOL, one of my favourite shots today. look how scared dawnie looks!! HAHA

    hello, random bokeh.

    bear with coke. crazed bear!

    paw!

AHAHAHAHAHA OMG. every time i look at this photo, i laugh.
focus is off though. also, it’s incredibly hard to meter properly for someone who is dark AND wearing a white shirt!!!!! sheesh.

    AHAHAHAHA!!

    eh??

    skinny dawnie.. eat more please!!

    aww.. smiley bear! :D

    “seal aerobics”, apparently. hmpf.
    i am faaaaat.

the soles of my shoes are hot pink too! hehehe. taken by dawnie!

me, taken by dawnie. zhan saw the shot. i miss taking photos with him because he can see shots that i’ll miss!

Heh, not an excellent collection of photos taken with this lens, but the promise it brings is incredible. I can already tell that I am going to fall in love with this lens! <3

Going out to take photos with Zhan and maybe Dawnie tomorrow. YAY!

    EDIT:-
PSSST! I’m offering a small prize for the first person who guesses what I used for the CALMNESS photo! So leave a comment with your guesses now! Hehe.
(Limited to readers in Singapore only, sorry! Also, those who already know what it is cannot comment lah! I know who knows okaaay! Open til Friday 250909, 0059hrs sg time! Oh and only answers that are left on this blog post are counted la, stop tweeting or MSNing me your answers! Hahahaha.)

My photography class’ first project has been submitted! Thank God, because you’ve no idea how very stressed out I was over it. Poor Pinkie got the brunt of my stress..

Anyways, since a few of you asked to see my photos, I thought I’d just post them up here. Also, all praise to God for letting the presentation go well beyond anything I expected! Yay!

We were supposed to take 2 sets of five photos each. All photos within each set had to be linked to each other, either conceptually or visually. No light/flash photography was allowed. Also no black and white or sepia. For the Emotions set, no part of the human face was allowed as well.

    The emotions set:
    - happiness
    - sadness
    - anger
    - calmness
    - energetic

    The lines&shapes set:
    - asymmetry
    - balance
    - repetition
    - scale
    - lines and shapes

My lecturer said we didn’t have to make a link between all 10 photos because it’s a lot tougher, so she was letting us off the hook but we could if we wanted to challenge ourselves. I chose to try and link all 10 not because I willingly pick challenges all the time but simply because I love photography and I want to push myself.. During the period when I was trying to get the photos taken, I was wondering if I was mad and retarded for choosing to link all 10 photos. HAHA.

Whilst brainstorming for it, I was stressed out of my mind because I didn’t want to just settle and pick easy things to photograph.. but that’s just me being anal. Haha.

One night, whilst I was surfing Tumblr, I came across a photo of a bowl of Fruit Loops and I got reminded of how happy I get each time I eat or see Fruit Loops! And thus sparked…….. a night of sleeplessness. Hahahaha! I was so excited, rolling around in bed thinking of how I could use food to get all my shots done! After thinking about it through the night, and then discussing it with Pinkie the next day, I decided to just go ahead with it! Hehe.

    HAPPINESS.
because froot loops make me happy (only the boxes from faraway lands, not the ones that don’t contain the blue ones!)
and because the colours just naturally shout happy! :D

    ENERGETIC.
i used beer, reenacting scenes when people cheers each other with their drinks.
i specifically chose to use beer because of the connotations it brings, of partying and the like.

    ANGER.
the shot that stressed me out cos my initial shots didn’t work out.
finally, thanks to Joe, i decided to take a bowl of Sharks Fin and make it look like it was thrown and smashed on the floor.
anger, because of the smashed and broken bowl, but also because sharks fin has become controversial and personally, i don’t eat sharks fin either because i think it’s very cruel.

    CALMNESS.
meant to look visually calm, resembling the sea on a calm day.
can you guess what this is? hehe.

    SADNESS.
haha, this is lame! a play on the phrase, ‘don’t cry over spilled milk’. haha!

    ASYMMETRY.
the asymmetry here is shown not just in the difference in sizes of the bottles,
but also in what the bottles are: Absolut vodka versus fruit juice!
haha, i tried to pick juices that were as close to the flavours or colours of the Absolut bottles.

    SCALE.
my least favourite out of the 10 shots. bleh!
i used a broccoli to demonstrate scale, comparing it with Pinkie sitting on the path in the background,
and the old uncle who happened to walk past at the right time!
i only wish my camera went up bigger f stop numbers. and ya la, i know i didn’t phrase that properly. hahaha.

    REPETITION.
    uh. a tray of eggs.
not much to say here. HAHAHA!

    BALANCE.
i likey the colours of this shot!
and also the lovely smell of the huge lime when i cut it open.

    LINES AND SHAPES.
    one of my favourite shots.
can you guess what these are, and where they were taken?? haha.

Yup, so those are my 10 shots! The presentation last week went really well, and my lecturer had some good things to say about them so I was just immensely happy. Coupled with news just before my presentation that my brother got himself in OCS, my day was awesome!

My day ended with an outing to the museum with Dawnie and then dinner at her place, so it was a reallyyyy good day.

I really, really couldn’t have completed my photography project on my own. Praise God, for his favour and blessing upon me. And also for showering me with people who were around to help out or encourage.

Much thanks has, of course, got to go to Pinkie, who was very very selfless about helping me out, both with brainstorming and helping out with the shots. I know he doesn’t like doing these things (he studies Econs and Stats leh!!!) so I appreciate it even more. He helped to splash beer about, hold things around, sit around pretending to read a newspaper, carry things around for me and so much more. Oh, and he also put up with my horrid short temper when I am mad stressed and cannot get my shots to work. I ARE LOVEZZZZ YOU! Hahahahahaha.

And also much thanks to Van and Joe who really helped me to brainstorm when I was out of ideas for shots that I had to reshoot because the first try didn’t work out. Thank you so so much, not only because they really did help me but because I know brainstorming takes effort and time out of you!

Despite how everything went on submission/presentation day, I still am not completely pleased with the photos but ohwell. And y’know, when I say I am nervous and I am not sure if my shots will work and that I hate some of my shots, I really did mean it – I wasn’t saying it to bullshit and shoot my own work down just to appear modest. I don’t say things I don’t mean just for the sake of it, yo! :) Haha.

    ———

You don’t know this, but when I was going through one of the worst periods of my life about a month or so back, I realised who the people are in my life with whom I will be able to trust secrets with, whom I have absolutely no fear of them judging me because I know that they will just be nothing short of loving and encouraging even if they don’t understand what is happening.

Unfortunately, I also realised that I absolutely refused to go to any of you out of choice – I realised that if I did go and tell you what was happening, it would all be out of obligation and necessity.

I keep trying but you don’t seem to see that – all you see are the results, of which there are none positive at the moment. You think I don’t feel bad, but I do. More than you’d ever imagine. I keep trying, but there is nothing that serves as a motivation anymore. Not in the people, nor in the structure of things.

    Now what?

You can go on and impose your judgment on my life, on what is going wrong, and everything that I am not doing right in your eyes. Go on, I know you will eventually anyway.

Yup, it’s allll in my head, that these things aren’t actually happening, but I just think they are because of how I see the, Yup yup, you’re always right. *insert smiley face*

Happy National Day to you! Haha, okay I know I’m a tad late.. Oops.

Anyways, just a short note to say HOLA! I am still alive, just mightily caught up with the super long weekend I had! It started on Friday, like everyone else and ended today, like all LASALLE students because on top of Monday being a public holiday, the college was also closed today because it’s Founders’ Day. Muahaha! Happy!

My weekend was.. how do I put this…. AWESOME!! *hops about*

On Saturday, we attended Aileen & Collin’s wedding in the early afternoon! I love weddings! So full of joy and happiness, hehe. Pinkie came along, in his new *pink* Ralph Lauren shirt. Hehe, so cute. Pictures another time!!

After the church ceremony ended, I got a call from my mum and I picked up.

ME (on the phone with mum): OHMYGOD! Yes! I want! YAY!! How many? OMG! How did you get the tickets?! I want I want I want!!!!!!!
PINKIE (next to me, staring at me on the phone): NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

    HAHAHAHAHAHA DO YOU KNOW WHYYYY?

    *drumrolls*

Because………. MY MUM CALLED TO TELL ME SHE GOT NDP TICKETS FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! *squeal!!!!!!*
And Pinkie’s horrified reaction?? Because he hates being in the sun, and he hates crowds and I’D ALREADY DRAGGED HIM TO THE NDP LAST YEAR COS I GOT TICKETS THROUGH BALLOTING THEN! Hahahahahaha!!

He is, as he would say, SIBEI SUAY! HAHAHAHAHA! I was ecstatic, of course! I love being at the Parade live, mostly because of the fireworks! I *LOVE* fireworks!

I brought Pinkie and Dawnie along, and we realised that Zhi Xiong also had tickets to the same sector as me!!! Hehe.

More photos and a proper post another day! The parade this year was really, really awesome! Kudos to Ivan Heng and his team for amazing creative direction for the NDP. It was like a hugeass musical celebrating Singapore’s 44th birthday. So many things felt different about the parade this year because the usual way things were done went out the window! Of course, lovely to have so many double meanings in the show, heh heh.

It was very engaging, funny and heartwarming. Made me super happy! :)

The past 2 days have been awesomely laidback BROWNIE-PINKIE DAYS. These are days when we stay in, away from the unforgiving heat and sun, and just eat and watch shows in the comfort of home. And then there’s homecooked food by Pinkie’s mummy! YAY for homecooked yums!

I’m so totally being fattened up by both Pinkie and his mum! *frowns*

It’s back to school tomorrow for a couple of hours – make up class for today’s missed lesson. After that Pinkie’s coming down to school to meet me and then it’s a day of running errands, sorta. AND THEN WE’RE WATCHING UP!!! Totally can’t wait for it! Love Disney Pixar shows. =)

What did you guys do during the long weekend??

Aloha, sunshines!! How’s your Tuesday rolling along? Tuesdays have always been my favourite day of the week, for no apparent reason. I suspect it might have started in secondary school, because we were let out half an hour earlier on Tuesdays because the teachers had their weekly staff meeting.

My Tuesday was awesomeee! I woke up late though, at about 12noon because I couldn’t sleep last night until.. well, this morning. I fell asleep at 8am! WHAT THE. Crawled out of bed after repeated phone calls from Dawn, who I was supposed to meet for lunch. Heh heh.

We pushed back the meeting time to 1.30pm and amazingly enough, I made it in time! All because the bus that takes me to the MRT station arrived just as I reached the bus stop. Don’t you just love days like these! From then on, it took me less than half an hour to reach Orchard. Wonderful! Ahahaha!

I am so irritatingly chirpy today, huh?!

ANYWAY! Dawnie and I met up to go…… MAKEUP SHOPPING!!! *mad happy squeals* OMG, I loveeee shopping for makeup! She finally decided to listen to me (and possibly a few others too) to get her own foundation! I am so happy! Milestone! HAHAHA ok I will shut up now.

We decided to get lunch first and had the most disgusting lunch I’ve had at Takashimaya. Ughh. Being on a budget (actually, my exact words were – save money on food, spend more on makeup!) we decided to eat at the Taka Food Court. She wanted Jap rice and I didn’t feel like eating Saba from the lovely stall behind the food court, and I decided that Yoshinoya sucks (she had a craving, oops) so we settled on the Japanese stall at the entrance of the food court.

Big mistake. Dawn went to order her food first, and then came back with a bowl of rice and beef, much like the Yoshinoya one. It looked alright so I got up to order a bowl of ramen. Thus began my miserable experience. Not knowing what the different types of ramen listed on their board meant, I asked the lady (auntie?) at the counter. MIGHT AS WELL DON’T ASK.

AUNTIE: Oh, they are just different soup bases.
ME: Yea, what’s the difference between the first 3?
AUNTIE: Errr, jiang you and… salt.
    ME: Errr…. huh?
AUNTIE: Aiya, actually about the same. The difference very little.
ME: *confused* But what’s the difference?
AUNTIE: Soy sauce, and salt lor. Which one you want? There. It’s different. *points to menu* Can see? Different one.
ME: Ya, I can see. But I don’t understand, that’s why I’m asking?!

BAH! Ordered the Miso in the end, even though I’m not fond of it because the conversation was just going NOWHERE. It was a measly portion. How do I put this – it was $7.90, had ONE slice of fish cake, ONE slice of char siew and a tiny portion of noodles. Get this: I wasn’t hungry when I sat down, and when I was done with my noodles, I wasn’t full! WTH. She said she thinks Yoshinoya tastes better than the food she had. Omg.

Never mindddd. Off to look for foundation for Dawn and shoes for me! All my footwear seem to hurt because the comfortable ones are dying or have died. Need shoes for school! Heh heh.

Wandered around testing different brands of foundations for her. Also wandered into Schu where I was hopping around in excitement from the cute shoes and colours around! Hehehe. I got 2 pairs of pumps! The second pair that you buy goes at a 50% discount, soooo 2 colours for me! GUESS WHAT COLOURS I GOT. HAHA!

I got….. PINK! Stop rolling your eyes.
One pair in pale pink for easy matching, and the other in HOT PINK. I’m in love with my shoes! Initially stayed away from the hot pink even though the colour was lovely because I thought I’d look mad in it. Plus.. how to match! Couldn’t resist trying them on anyway.. and then didn’t want to take them off. I am incorrigible, I know.

Trotted off to Tangs where Dawn continued trying different foundations. The blush colours at Shu Uemera are lovelyyyy! But so expensive. Meep. I love looking at blush colours! All the wonderful shades of pink staring happily at me. *happy sigh*

Dawn finally settled on MAC’s Studio Fix foundation. $47, no refills. You just buy the whole compact each time you need to. Sounds pretty good to me! I asked to try my shade, just for fun.. And when I went to the mirror, I gasped. Not because it was hideous.. Nooooo but because!!! I couldn’t even tell where it was applied! It blended in with my skin tone soooo well. OH MANNNN. Why! Why you tempt me like this! I am a poor unemployed soon-to-be student, you know!!!

What’s worse is that I think I am supposed to use Studio Tech (?) which is extra moisturising, and has SPF. My skin flakes when I apply foundation, so I need the extra moisturising stuff. And this one is $72!!!! Pft. Only because it’s the case + refills. Refills are at $58. How now, brown cows?

I’m currently using Ettusais’ foundation and it’s served me well. Hesitating between switching brands because this is my first Ettusais foundation, i/e I haven’t even used enough to buy refills yet. Sheesh. Talk about fickle. Their refills are $48.

If I do switch to MAC, I’ll finish up whatever’s left I suppose. Oh well. We’ll see when the time comes.

At the MAC counter, I couldn’t resist getting something though. I got blusher!! *happy* Nice shade of natural pink.. It’s called Pinch o’ Peach! HOW ADORABLE. Ahahahaha.

I headed off after that to meet CLARA!!!!!! OMG I haven’t seen my bestie in AGES AND AGES AND AGES. So happy we finally met up today. I love how we don’t meet for months on end because of our insane schedules, and yet when we meet there isn’t even a second of awkwardness. There’s no time wasted getting used to being around each other – love!

We went to get her a bible at Tecman. YES, MY BESTIE HAS ACCEPTED CHRIST!!!!! Praise God! I am so happy, hehehe! She got an awesome bible.. I also want!!! It’s black and has 3 nice big swirls of shimmer – hot pink (!!!) / turquoise / amber. Niceee. I also managed to pick up the next book that Pinkie & I are gonna use for our devotions! Haven’t managed to find those at TrumpetPraise, so YAY! Happy I found them. =)

Met up with Hammy for awhile because she happened to be in the area. OMG, I miss you so much, you know?!?! Even though it was only a short while, I was really really glad for it! We need a proper outing soon.. =(

After sitting around for awhile, Clara and I headed off to dinner. Went off to this tiny Jap place that Qwen told me about. I shall not tell you where it is! *smug face* Lovely, hidden away.. Tucked with good food and super affordable, especially for its quality! Heh heh. Downsides are the location + horrible grumpy aunties + menus with no pictures or descriptions. Hahaha.

I had the beef teriyaki set today, and it was AMAZING! The beef tasted of the grill, and was cooked just right. Oh so happy. Hee hee hee.

Speaking of food, I am hungry already!! Off for food.

My parents are heading off to Genting for a few days, and my mum came in and told me, “I bought enough snacks to last you!” We’ll see.. HAHAHAHAHA.

My brother just went into army last week, and I wasn’t able to send him in because of the H1N1 guidelines. Boo. 2 people were to send him in, instead of the previously mentioned 5. So sadddd. I miss having him around.. Meh. He texted me earlier, and said that the days are long and tiring and that he didn’t think he would wanna see his family so badly.

    !!!

He can’t wait for the 24th, when he can come home after being in Tekong for 2 weeks. Shall bring him out to eat when he gets out!! I can’t believe I miss my smelly brother. Hahaha.

Ok, Imma head off to raid the supply of snacks that my Mum claims is enough to last me and see if she’s right!! Hee hee.

I CAN’T BELIEVE SCHOOL IS STARTING IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS, for the first time in 3 years. AHHHHHHHH!! *panics*

After the previous post, I really did go off to make dinner. I cooked macaroni (loveee!) with tomato-based pasta sauce. Also had slices of chicken franks and some black pepper SPAM. *burp*

Err.. I think I might have cooked a little too much though.. because I am still full!!! Like hellooo, this is Jolene we’re talking about here! The one who’s hungry every 2 hours or so. *miserable face*

And to top it off, because I am this full, I can’t have my chocolate milk. Sheesh..

In my state of misery from feeling like I’m gonna burst, I decided to finally get down to editing the photos from the Tioman trip last month! Quite an accomplishment, I must say.. seeing as how I am queen of procrastination. Haha.

Last month, Dawnie, Pam, Pinkie and I headed off to the tiny island of Tioman! We met bright and early at Golden Mile to take the coach into Malaysia. Err.. ok, not quite bright because the sun was still sleeping. Pftt.

Dawnie and Pam on the bus!

Dawnie and Pam on the bus!

Pinkie & me! Someones not too happy huh.. hahaha

Pinkie & me! Someone's not too happy huh.. hahaha

I’m not a big fan of long bus rides or plane rides.. mostly because my back starts to ache after a couple of hours and I get insanely uncomfortable. Grr. This bus driver was insane! Like some racer, he turned super sharp and fast corners. Quite fun, if you’re not in a big coach that threatens to swing off the slopes and plunge into endless rubber tree plantations……

    YAY SPECS!!! 3

    YAY SPECS!!! <3

After the looong bus ride, we finally arrived at the ferry terminal where we’d take a ferry to Tioman! Pinkie’s contacts went crazy, so much to my delight, he put on his specs! Hee hee hee

Dawnie & me on the looong ferry ride!

Dawnie & me on the looong ferry ride!

We all thought the ferry ride was going to take about 45 minutes, as per the previous trip and what the agency mentioned to us but somehow.. that turned into a horribly long two hour journey! *sadness* I fell asleep and got a shock when I woke up and they told me two hours had passed already. Hahaha.

Finally got to Tioman, and headed to check-in. Dumped our stuff down and took a walk down the beach in front of the resort.. Being back at Tioman reminded me of the awesome time I had 2 (or was it 3?) years back when about half of Pam’s girls were around. Fun.. I miss those times.

My favourite photo :] You cant see it from here, but hes actually going rarrr! at me.. Hahaha.

My favourite photo :) You can't see it from here, but he's going "rarr!!" at me.. Hahaha.

As part of the package which we were traveling with, most of the meals were provided for us at the resort. The resort may be small and tiny, and doesn’t look too impressive but my word.. the meals provided were awesome! Not in the exquisite 5 star resort food kind of way, but in a very comforting and simple food sort of way.

Stuffing ourselves silly at breakfast! See the lot of eggs?

Stuffing ourselves silly at breakfast! See the lot of eggs?

Of course, no trip to a beach resort is complete without snorkeling! We headed out for a day trip to snorkel at various locations. Pinkie didn’t enjoy himself very much because of feeling seasick and all that jazz.. =(

As compared to a couple of years back, the waters are nowhere as clear.. and the fishes not as bright and colourful. So sad what pollution and human traffic can do to a place huh? Sigh.. this is why efforts need to be made and maintained to protect the natural world that’s still around us. It made me so sad to think that this tiny island could change so much in a few years..

On the boat going out to snorkel!

On the boat going out to snorkel!

There was some sort of mishap/adventure at my favourite spot to snorkel when we were there. Sigh.. sadness. I wished the snorkeling could have just taken place smoothly, without hiccups but ohwell.

On one of the days, before Pinkie and I headed to the tiny pool at the resort to float around and be lazy, there was a hugeass storm brewing. The wind was crazy, but because of where we were, the view of the clouds was just amazing.

Dawn captured the awesome storm clouds on her Fisheye! Love this picture

We got back to the room to find Skip and Pip attempting to get a tan in the room! AHAHAHAHAHA

The little room we all shared!

The little room we all shared!

We all spent a good amount of time lazing in the room when we didn’t feel like being out in the sveltering sunshine… Nice to catch up on rest when we’re on a break. I absolutely hate holidays that have so much packed into it that I’m left feeling even more exhausted when I leave than when I arrived. Bangkok holidays don’t count.. because that involves a mad amount of shopping! Hehehe.

Pinkie fell asleep... with Skip and Pip by his side! AHAHAHA!!

Uh oh.. he wasnt too happy about being woken up to go for dinner!

So he made Skip take photos on his behalf! SO. DAMN. CUTE.

So he made Skip take photos on his behalf! SO. DAMN. CUTE.

The few days at Tioman were sooooo hot! But it wasn’t as humid so it’s bearable as long as we were in the water or having a lot of ice cream. Pinkie went mad and overdosed on ice cream.. as did I. Hahaha. We’d walk into the first shop and buy a popsicle stick and then eat it whilst walking. By the time we got to the third shop, we’d have just finished the first popsicle so we popped right in to buy another! Hahahaha! I miss ice cream!! I want moreeeee! LOVE the orange popsicle ones. I shall have one the moment my cramps go away. Whee!

We spent parts of the trip watching Big Bang Theory, and listened to Olivia Ong sing whilst we napped on the ferry ride back. After being frustrated and stressed with various things along the way, I suppose it was all worth it if only because God chose the journey home to touch me in a way that I havent felt in awhile. 3

I was taking photos of his MP3 player (which has an awesome AMOLED screen, by the way) during the ferry ride, and I snapped the following photo…

    Notice anything?

    Notice anything?

After I’d snapped that photo, the stupid bear took my camera to look at it and started sniggering. I leaned over to see what was so funny, and he zoomed in on the photo…

    !!!!!!!

    !!!!!!!

It’s almost 5am – I know I really should be asleep. Don’t yell at me.. because my screwed up sleeping pattern is annoying me. Really. I was SO frustrated with myself today when I woke up for a bunch of reasons I shall not go into.

On Saturday, my body decided to go crazy on me. I woke up at 430pm (after sleeping at 6am.. which again, happened cos of various reasons) and felt just as physically weak as I had when I’d gone to bed. Thinking it would go away once I got up and got food into my system, I had lunch.

Found myself crawling back into bed at 7pm and promptly fell asleep half an hour later, only to wake up at 930pm feeling like shit. Ughhh. It was only later that night that I realised that on top of sleep debt and stuff, it’s also because my stupid period was coming. GAH!

DG (or cell group, if you like) on Friday was… good. It’s been awhile since I’ve felt like that, I suppose. It’s taking time, but I’m getting there. Baby steps.. =/

Pinkie and I had a super massive late lunch of Briyani today. The amount of rice given was insane!!! It could feed 3 small eaters. That’s ONE of each serving. Madness. It was yummy though. Made me happy. I also love the people at that little Indian food stall near his place. They’re nice, and so chilled out. Hehe.

Spent time with Pinkie today at his place, watching Hell’s Kitchen and an episode of Top Gear. Funny shit. Nearly went nuts at the Mercedes SLR. SO DAMN PRETTY, ZOMG.

“I thought you didn’t like cars?!” Selective, you know. Heh heh.

Had devotions and a rather long talk with him.. which was good, ultimately.
*hugs* I love you very very much. We’ll work through these things together, and make things work.. okay? There’s going to be so much more that we’ll have to deal with in the future, both with ourselves as well as with life.. but we’ll get there and we’ll be fine as long as we’re in this together, with God. *holds paws* AHAHAHAHAHA. Ok sorry. I typed that out and it seemed damn funny to me.

Pinkie’s now at the airport, checking in to head off to Hong Kong for a few days. *jealous vibes* I wanna shop tooooo! In the meantime, it’s random lazing about at home and meeting people! YAY! Finally gonna see Clara on Tueday.. Wheee!

Hurry home, people. I miss you lot. Van’s coming home in a few weeks.. YAYYYY! Shuana’s in France though.. sob. She just went there a couple of weeks ago. We miss you, dearieeee! Perhaps I’ll see you sometime next year? Haha.

Should I go for the KL trip at year’s end? Hmmmmm…

Pinkie and I have the oddest conversations. Not complaining obviously, because I hate it when things around me get boring and normal.

Last night when I got home from congre meeting, I wanted to talk so I dropped him a text asking him if he was still playing his game. He replied and told me he’d stopped with Gunbound (YEA I KNOW RIGHT? Hahahaha but okay, he’s abit unreasonably good at it) but was now playing Winning Eleven, soccer game on his PS3:

HAHAHA he’s mad, I know I know. Hee

I was supposed to go out with Dawnie today to do last minute shopping for some stuff I need for Tioman, as well as get some errands done but that didn’t work out because of my screwed up sleeping pattern. Ugh.. I fell asleep at 3am last night, which is some sort of achievement because my insomnia has been stopping me from sleeping before 6am for the past few weeks. I remember feeling very satisfied just as I was falling asleep!

Sleep was not to be. Somehow I woke up at 6am, and proceeded to stay awake for a couple of hours. Sighhh.. This sucks. Anyway, I fell back to sleep at 8 in the bloody morning, only to JUMP out of bed with a jolt at 1.44pm – I was supposed to meet Dawn at 12pm!!! Fortunately for me, she was running late after her haircut anyway, so we postponed everything til tomorrow.

Fell back to sleep and felt like shit because I kept waking up every hour until the sun was ermmm… not visible. WTH. Woke up feeling shitty so I dropped Pinkie a text.

My boyfriend thinks he is Batman. When we watch Big Bang Theory and dear Sheldon has some sort of Batman merchandise or other (Sheldon thinks he is Batman too!), Pinkie goes into a sulk, proclaiming that he is Batman. HAHA.

Hahaha. O yea, you know how I call him Pinkie? Yea well, he calls me Brownie. Long story, so I’ll skip that. When we were at McDonald’s yesterday, this brought about a flurry of shrieks and mad evil laughter:

Hahaha! Madness. OH OH, GARLIC CHILLI IS BACKKKKK! But it tastes different from last time, looks different too. Oh well. Beggars can’t be choosers I suppose. I’ve had an overdose of MCD in the past few days, so I shall refrain unless it’s brekkie – that’s a different story altogether.

In case you’re interested, here’s my unfinished painting, left to collect dust at Michelle’s because I don’t know when I’m headed down to complete it.. =/

The flower’s incomplete, the background’s incomplete (because I’m not happy with the way it is) and the leaves are complete only because I say so. HAHA.

You know what’s tragic?? I absolutely can’t find 2 of my bikini bottoms. I have 3 tops and 1 bottom, and the new ones from VS aren’t arriving until when I get back from Tioman. *SULK* I want another beach holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My parents are out and I’m left with sorting out my dinner. Should I have bak zhang (microwaving) or pasta (cooking)? Such dilemmas I face daily…

Strangely enough, one of my photo sets is called angels and demons. They were photos of angel statues at a cemetery at the backyard of a small church in Cityhall – no demons.

The movie completely took me by surprise, just because I thought it was really really well done. I was drawn fully into the movie for the whole 2 hours and a bit, not gazing off bored like I usually get at some point in most movies. The plot was awesome, thanks to Dan Brown although I never read the book. I probably wouldn’t think the movie is as great as it is because no matter how well movies are done, I usually prefer the book. Perhaps because I think words by great storytellers have more power than movie makers. Words play with your own imagination and messes with your mind but for movies, it’s just there in your face with nothing more.

That said, Angels and Demons was an excellent movie. The scenes and editing were well planned, cut to the right moments without being too draggy and ‘loose’. It was a thrill-ride for 2 hours (perhaps because I scare easily) and I was curled up in my seat tensed. Poor Steph lost feeling in her fingers because I was grabbing them. Haha my left hand also lost feeling because of some awkward position I was in, trying to cover my ears. Oh stop laughing at me! If only you could see me in the cinema. Hahaha.

The last movie I gushed about like this was Batman’s The Dark Knight. Awesome stuff.

Ling bought Dawn, Steph and myself dinner at Manhattan Fish Market, and I am convinced I’ve gained 2KG + several clogged arteries. They ordered a side of garlic butter mussels, which they all enjoyed. I didn’t take the mussels cos I don’t like em, but the sauce…. oh, the sauce! It was used as a dip for everything else on the table, much to Ling’s horror.

Her healthy eating habits was in despair as Dawn and I drowned everything on the table in the garlic butter sauce. Her favourite phrase for the night was, “devoured the garlic butter sauce!” Hahaha.

Our dinner topic brought much laughter and hilarious expressions on Ling’s face, much to my delight. I love her insane expressions and her reactions to pretty much everything. Hehe.

I should really be asleep but I’m feeling a little off from the hugeass amount of food I had today. I’m also worried about dreaming up Angels and Demons scenes. Sigh, I hate dreams you know?

To you, they’re just dreams and it’s silly to get upset over them.. but you know what? I’m not you.
We all each have our own idiosyncrasies, and as much as I possibly can, I try to accept yours. Please please don’t judge my weaknesses based on your standards for the very simple reason – I’m not you. I never will be. This may seem silly to you, but as long as it doesn’t feel silly to me (bad dreams honestly feel anything but silly) and means something to me, I fail to comprehend the lack of support or comfort or love, whichever you’d want to call it, despite the lack of understanding. It feels just like taking a child’s irrational fear of something you yourself are not afraid of and mocking it.

Oh well.. Just rest well, get well and study well. I’m still here. :)
I just want you back here – just simply happy to be back, happy to be home, happy to be with me.
    I love you.

Things will get better in my head (heart?).
    Right?
    I need some loving.

Dawnie posted up an album of her fish-eye lomo photos and in its midst were a few taken when we were in Melaka. Aw man, looking through the photos really make me miss the place and that short happy holiday that we took!

Dawnie and me! I look buggy. And insanely young.

Looking at how young I look scares me because this photo was only taken last year! I seem to be aging at an accelerating rate! Alarming alarms! Gasp.

I miss the completely relaxed mood of those 3 days… sleeping and waking up at any time we felt like it. Eating and drinking and laughing and eating and drinking and sleeping and random walks along the little lanes. The company was what made everything fantastic, of course. I also miss the mad amount of gula melaka we drowned our chendols in… orgasmic!! HAHAHA.

Can you spot me in the photo walking along the lane, looking for food? Heh heh.

Zhan gave me a couple of missed calls so I called him back.

    JOJO: hello?
ZHAN: hi! you’re wondering why I called you right?
    JOJO: uh huhhh…
ZHAN: cos I miss your stupid voice la!
    JOJO: awww………………… HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

And then I laughed for quite a bit after that. Hahaha. I likey random phone calls!

Being in the office was quite amusing today. I think the lack of sleep affected my brain somewhat and I couldn’t stop laughing at nothing and everything, much to the horror of Charmaine and Liwei. Hahahaha.

When I stepped into my dad’s car this evening, I shrieked in horror. HE. WAS. PLAYING. TRANCE. I continued shrieking in horror and he proudly showed me the album cover.
It was………………………………. MOS CLUBBERS GUIDE 2009!!!!!! WTH!!!!! GAHHHH!!!

First of all, I HATE TRANCE. Secondly – I am soon going to be surrounded by trance. Zhan says it is going to be the soundtrack of my life. My colleagues listen to trance. My boyfriend loves trance. AND NOW MY DAD LISTENS TO TRANCE.

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo……………!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a totally different (and less hysterical) note, this made me tear and feel incredibly loved by the people around me:

“and i’m truly happy for you that you’ve found somebody worth fighting for.. somebody you can say you love. Truly happy.”

    OHGAWD.

I just had the most hilarious conversation with Dawnie online, resulting in me laughing my head off in front of my laptop. And it went on and on until I couldn’t take it anymore so I picked up the phone to call her, and greeted her with 3 minutes of nonstop laughter. TIL I CRIED.

My tummy hurts, but DAMN! This is such an awesome feeling that I haven’t had in a long, long while.

I love you, Dawnie! EAT CURRY!

    Valentine’s Day was… nice :)

Oh c’mon. Enough with the rants about how commercialised and overrated it is! Sure, florists and gift shops (how tacky) drum up their prices to dupe unsuspecting lil boys but that’s not the point here, helloooo. Stop being so sour please pftt!

Yea yea everyday should be Valentine’s Day, you say. But I think sometimes in the busy-ness of our lives we need reminders like these specially marked days to take time to shower extra affection and reflect on the relationships in your life.

    *glee*

I was really very pleasantly surprised when I received a huge bouquet of pink lilies from Pinkie! Hehehe!! I totally wasn’t expecting flowers from him, so it was really nice getting them! Hehe.

They’re huge and I got weird stares and an uncle went, “Eh nice flowers!” when I walked past. Pftt. Haha.

    Happy Valentine’s :)
Too bad, you all can’t see the letter’s contents! Haha.

Thanks for knowing what makes me happy and then specially pampering me even though you know it isn’t necessary. More than that, thank you for making my everyday feel as special as Valentine’s Day anyway. Having both of us falling asleep whilst Skyping was strangely sweet, heh.

Thank you also, for everything last night. *squish*

Of course, Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples (so cliche) and I spent it quite well with Pam & Leonard and erm, other church people I didn’t know before. Pam & Leonard were super sweet – they wanted to spend this year’s Valentine’s in a special way, spending time with the people they’re close to.

    It’s been a good Valentine’s Day, even though we’re 10, 000km apart. *smucks!
